FAQs
First of all, massage therapists never claim to “fix.” We offer therapeutic services that may help ease your discomfort.
After that, the answer is more complicated. Every client’s issues are unique — some are chronic and others, like that muscle “crick” you got from sleeping “weird,” are intermittent. And the therapies we use to alleviate these conditions vary too.
Some clients walk away from one massage therapy session and feel immediate relief. Others may feel improvement the next day or a few days later. And other clients may require a series of regular massage therapy sessions before they notice significant improvements. Because just like your ailments, every body responds differently.
This is why it’s important to speak with your massage therapist about your ailments and your expectations. They can help you understand the benefits they anticipate you’ll receive and how soon you can expect those benefits to start showing up.
Ultimately, the decision to stick with a single session or recurring sessions to help maintain a better quality of life is yours.
It depends on what you’re looking to alleviate. For stress management, lymphatic, autoimmune disorder, cancer, or if you have multiple areas of discomfort, we suggest you reserve a 60- or 90-minute session. The intent of these sessions is to help re-educate the nervous system and move it from systematic to parasympathetic, and this takes time.
If you’re wanting to target one or two areas or need to work a massage therapy session into a hectic schedule, the 30-minute session may be a better fit for your needs.
We encourage all our clients to reserve their spot online. Here, you can schedule exactly what you’re looking for and with the practitioner of your choice. You can also call us at (417) 299-4605. However, we may not be able to take your call immediately, as we may be with other clients at that time.
We understand that things come up, and you may need to cancel your appointment. Please contact us as soon as possible by phone, text, email, or by responding to your appointment reminder. If you cancel more than 24 hours in advance, you are not charged. However, if you cancel within 24 hours of your appointment, you will be charged the full price of your appointment.
You can choose to reschedule your appointment instead of cancelling. You can reschedule by logging into your online account or by responding to your appointment reminder.
We do understand emergencies — even our therapists get sick on occasion — and we do use discretion when warranted. However, recurring “no shows” and “no calls” will turn into the inability to reschedule appointments.
No, you don’t need to shower right before your massage. But we do request you come to your appointment as clean as possible.
Of course you can! Talking is a form of emotional, energetic release. However, you will experience the greatest benefits from your session if you just allow yourself to become quiet and relax, which helps your heart and brain get into a rhythm you may find healing.
Regardless if you want to talk or stay quiet during your session, you need to communicate with your therapist if you feel any pain or if you have any concerns during your massage. Sports and precision neuromuscular massage therapists work on deep layers of muscle and tissue and will need more feedback.
A massage will likely make you feel worse. If you’re sick, you may get your therapist sick and pass it on to other clients that day. Even if you’re giving less than 24-hour notice, we prefer you reschedule your appointment if you’re feeling unwell.
For PNMT Services
Keep moving. We always say, “Move it or lose it.” When we lose range of motion, the last thing we want to do after regaining movement is lose it again. So walk or workout gently, but keep moving and re-educating the muscles and nerves you still want. It’s worth fighting for.
For Therapeutic Massage or Meditative Service
Give yourself some additional time to relax and allow your body to fully absorb the benefits from massage therapy. The goal is to educate the mind-body energetic connection to rest and digest, not fight or flight. We’re always responding, fixing, and serving others, but this is the time to allow our body and mind to connect to “just be still,” rest and recover.
The intent is self care, so most people prefer to stay relaxed and enjoy the feeling of recovery your physical and energetic go through during a massage. If you need to exercise the same day as your massage therapy session, we recommend you workout prior to your appointment.
Tipping your massage therapist is appreciated, but it is neither required nor expected. If you would like to leave a tip, you may add the gratuity at checkout.
The best form of appreciation you can give your massage therapist is a referral to your friends and family. Let them know the amazing benefits you’ve received from massage therapy and encourage them to experience it for themselves. We also appreciate a Google or Yelp review, as well as a Facebook shout out.
Yes! We think giving the gift of massage is a wonderful way to celebrate friends, family, and milestones. You can purchase a gift certificate online and print out your certificate at home.
It depends on the type of massage therapy your session is. For most massage therapy session, your practitioner will ask you to undress to the level of your comfort. You will be covered by a sheet and blanket on the massage table.
For all other massage and sound therapy sessions, you will remain fully clothed during your appointment. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing (like sweatpants or yoga pants).
